Doctors Are More Harmful Than Germs by Harvey Bigelsen, M.D.
This small, 130-page book is a gem, containing much more than a critique of the current American Medical System, which, according to JAMA, July 2000, is the third leading cause of death. Among many other things, Dr. Bigelsen reminds us that inflammation, Miasma, is the underlying disease process. Remembering this and the unique work of Hahnemann, as well as Naessens, Rife, Virginia Livingston, and many others who have demonstrated unequivocal unique live blood “organisms” reminds us just how narrow and constipated allopathic medicine has become in the past 100 years. Indeed, live blood analysis may be one of the most important tools rejected by “medicine.”
Interestingly, there are small, living organisms present in all blood. Naessens called them somatids. They seem to be capable of changing, as Rife reported, from bacteria to fungi and to viruses. This pleomorphism is the key to understanding pathology, as well as providing for appropriate treatment. It was, however, totally rejected by the leading bacteriologists at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute. Ultimately, it was the evil czar of the American Medical Association (AMA), Morris Fishbein, who destroyed Rife’s work. Pasteur was correct in stating – on his death bed – that it is not the organism but the culture medium upon which health and sickness depends. And it is understanding the culture medium that is the key to appropriate treatment.
This leads us, in this book, to the foundations of Homeopathy and Homotoxicology, which are among the most useful CAM approaches. Just as allopathy rejected osteopathy, it rejected homeopathy. Indeed, the United States is the only major country where homeopathy has been so thoroughly rejected. With the leadership of Fishbein, the AMA became dominant but it attempted to destroy everything but drugs and surgery. Homeopathy, Chiropractic, and Osteopathy were just a few of the enemies of the AMA. And it also rejected what my Professor of Medicine, Eugene A. Stead, Jr., called “A Real Doctor,” that is, one who really listens to the patient. Instead, it created the 7-minute assembly line that is so inept and dangerous today.
Dr. Bigelsen reminds us that emotions tighten unique personal muscle groups, which are set-ups for tension and aggravation by trauma. Wilhelm Reich’s concept of armoring was also rejected by the Establishment. Interestingly, with the advent of biofeedback in the 1970s, decreased blood flow and increased muscle tension have been shown to be prevalent. Homeostasis is blocked by muscle tension and traumatic blocks to the natural flow of water and life energy. Stagnation of energy flow is the beginning of disease. Unchecked, this leads to inflammation and progressive chronic disease. The cure of inflammation and disease resides in the simple, non-toxic approaches that release tension, reduce inflammation, and allow self-regulation to cure. For those who have ears to hear and eyes to see, Doctors Are More Harmful Than Germs provides a great philosophical foundation for true health and healing. Keep it Simple and Safe!
